Ahrefs pricing, what is it and 6 tips to reduce cost?

If you have been looking for a keyword tool I’m sure you have come across a site called Ahrefs and want to know Ahrefs pricing.  Ahrefs is the industry standard that all other keyword tools are measured against. Ahrefs have the largest and most up to date keyword database of any keyword site; along with the best analytics, history, and tools to sort out that perfect keyword you are looking for. Because they are the best it also means they are not the cheapest keyword tool.  This brings to mind the quote: “Good is not cheap, cheap is not good.” I don’t know who said it, but most of the time that thinking is very true. With Ahrefs I believe you get what you pay for. If you want the best keyword tool, you have to pay for the best keyword tool. 

But…..

There are some ways to save some money and still use Ahrefs.  If you are like me you are always looking to save money wherever you can. And if you are just starting out and are not making any money online then the monthly fee seems very expensive.  

You can stop searching for things like; Ahrefs discount, Ahrefs coupon, Ahrefs sale, Ahrefs free, Ahrefs discount code, Ahrefs discount coupon, Ahrefs free trial, and any other terms you can think of.

So let’s look at Ahrefs pricing.

There are 4 levels for Ahrefs pricing as you can see in the screenshot below.

              Lite is $99  

              Standard is $199   

              Advanced is $399  

              Enterprise is $999

How to save money on Ahrefs pricing…..

Ahrefs does not run sales, it clearly states this in the FAQ’s on the Ahrefs site.  At one time Ahrefs offered a 7 day trial for $7.  This trial was discontinued a long time ago.  You may see other sites say the trial is still available, but it is not.  Let me give you some tips to save on Ahrefs pricing. Another downside to Ahrefs is that it does not have an affiliate program any longer to recoup some of the subscription cost. The affiliate program was suspended in 2015, and it does not look like it is coming back any time soon. To be honest, Ahrefs is the top seo keyword tool in the market and does not need the help of affiliates to promote them. Now, let’s see the ways to save on Ahrefs pricing.

• If you can afford it, Ahrefs offers a yearly subscription.  If you look above the Ahrefs pricing columns there is an option that says “Pay annually,  get 2 months free.” if you click that the pricing changes to the annual discount. You save 16%-17% this way.

                          Advanced is $333

• There are free tools available on the Ahrefs website. If you scroll down to the footer you will see a list of available free tools.  These tools are very limited, but you can get some information you are looking for. For example, the keyword generator gives you the top 10 results of your search. But you can not sort any of this data, it is just to top 10 and that’s it.  Sometimes that is all you need, most times it is not enough. It is just a tease to get you to buy a Ahrefs pricing plan subscription. 

• Ahrefs pricing does not allow you to pause or freeze your account during times you are not using it.  What you can do is cancel your subscription, and then restart it later. If you are working on your online business at a slower pace you could pay for 1 month. In that month do all the research you can do and download all the reports you need that will keep you busy for the next month or more sorting through the information. Before the bill is due for the next month, cancel the subscription. You will have until the end date of the month you already paid for to use the site. For example; you pay $99 for 1 month, then cancel the subscription and use the research reports that were downloaded over the next 2 months. Now that averages out to $33 a month. In those 2 months that you don’t have access you can use the free keyword tools to check the status of a keyword, such as monthly search volume, difficulty rating, and when that keyword was last updated. This way you can see the changes for that keyword since doing the initial research.

• Get paid to use Ahrefs pricing.  Other people need keyword research done, but can’t or won’t pay for a monthly subscription. There are many people on sites like Fiverr.com that will take keyword research jobs and this can cover the cost of the subscription. If you can cover the subscription cost by doing enough of these jobs each month then you get to use Ahrefs for your own needs for free, or even make some money.

• Find a buddy. Do you know someone else that wants to use Ahrefs pricing? Buddy up with them and share the cost. Just be aware that there are limits to the standard subscription package, if you go over the limits then you will be charged for the overage.  Be sure you and your buddy know what the limits of the package are that you are paying for so you don’t go over.

• Find a group buying website that offers lower Ahrefs pricing. Just be warned that these accounts can be a little shady. You may not get as much access to the website as you want, or are very limited on the usage you get.  These accounts could also be shut down at any time. Do a lot of research on the buying group before you buy access through them to be sure they are trustworthy.

Conclusion….

Ahrefs is the industry standard for good reason. And when you look at what you can do with it and how it can help you grow your online business, Ahrefs pricing is not as bad as it seems.  For the majority of people that use Ahrefs the Lite plan is all that they need. I only see very large advertising firms needing the most expensive plans. Once you use it, you will be hooked and never want to be without access to Ahrefs.
